The Women’s Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Group is designed to provide education about how emotional trauma, domestic violence and sexual abuse affect the lives of women. As an essential part of the recovery process, this group promotes well-being, educates women on how to build new skills to promote change and teaches effective coping.
Topics covered include defining abuse, physical and emotional boundaries, self-destructive behavior, healthy relationships, intimacy and trust, building self-esteem and gaining an understanding of trauma. Those attending this group are not required to talk about what happened to them. All participants are encouraged to participate in the group discussion. However, learning can happen from listening as well.
This is a free series of 16 groups, led by Lisa Gonzalez, LPCMH.
